Organ Recital | Victoria Harden
December 3, 2016 9:30 am

Over the years she has performed recitals, led choral conducting workshops, been a contest judge and guest lecturer but the joy of working again in the church, dealing weekly with children’s choirs, getting to play multiple services, praising God in an amazing space has been an incredible joy. And now getting to share that joy in Dallas at Central Christian is a wonderful opportunity. Victoria is the Music Director/Organist at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock, AR.
At age 14, Victoria Mathis Harden began her career as church organist at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Camden, Arkansas. At 16 she started studying organ at Henderson State University with Robert Ellis where she completed her under-graduate music degree with a major in organ. Graduate organ study was begun at North Texas State University, completed at Memphis State University. More graduate study was continued at Columbia University in New York City. Along this path Victoria served as organist-choirmaster at Westminster Presbyterian in Hot Springs, AR, Bedford Park, Presbyterian, Bronx, NY, Barth House Episcopal Center and Christ Church Episcopal, Memphis, Tennessee. At North Texas she was honored to be assistant organist/choirmaster at St. Michael’s and All Angels in Dallas. Moving to New York to begin work on a doctorate, she became a professional soprano in the choir at St. Bartholomew’s Church in New York City where she found and married the love of her life, her husband Shelton. Ms Harden also worked for Chase Manhattan Bank as a vice-president in data processing.

Christmas Cantata | "Touched by a Child, Touched by a King" by John Purifoy
December 18, 2016 11:00 am

Being touched in a life-changing way by the Christ Child is the theme of this unique cantata, which follows the experience of Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, the wise men, and finally all those who believe—all touched by a child, touched by a king. Thoughtful narrations, original music, and fresh Christmas texts combine with a touch of the familiar in the congregational carol O Come, All Ye Faithful and a joyful setting of In Dulci Jubilo to make this selection an exciting Christmas experience for choir and congregation alike.
